The Telangana Government has attached Hyderabad Cyber Crime DCP Aravind Babu to the Director General of Police (DGP) Office following controversy over the registration of a case that named Meta India’s head as an accused.
The case was filed after Telangana BJP leaders lodged a complaint alleging that social media posts on Facebook and Instagram insulted Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
The inclusion of Meta India’s head as an accused sparked nationwide debate, with critics questioning how the company could be held directly responsible for posts made by individual users on its platforms.
In response to the controversy, the Telangana Government issued orders on Friday attaching DCP Aravind Babu to the DGP Office with immediate effect. Following the orders, the officer reported to the DGP Office.
