Hyderabad Old City Witnessing Unprecedented Development Under Revanth Reddy Government: Azharuddin

Hyderabad: Telangana Minister Mohammed Azharuddin has said that Hyderabad’s Old City is witnessing unprecedented development under the Congress government led by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy.

Azharuddin made the remarks during the inauguration of the Nalgonda X Roads Steel Flyover at Chanchalguda on Thursday.

The 3.32-km, four-lane flyover has been built at a reported cost of around ₹620 crore. It connects Nalgonda X Roads with the Owaisi Hospital Junction corridor.

Major boost to Old City connectivity

The steel flyover passes through key areas, including Chanchalguda, Saidabad and Santosh Nagar. It is designed to provide a signal-free route for commuters.

Officials expect the project to significantly reduce travel time on the busy corridor. The journey, which can take around 35 minutes during congestion, is expected to fall to about 5–8 minutes.

The flyover has 88 spans and includes a 2.63-km main viaduct. A 200-metre up-ramp is also part of the project.

Azharuddin highlights development push

Speaking at the inauguration, Azharuddin highlighted the government’s focus on improving infrastructure in Hyderabad’s Old City.

He said the region is now seeing major development activity under the Revanth Reddy government.

The minister’s comments came as the new flyover opened to traffic. The project is expected to ease congestion for thousands of daily commuters.

Revanth Reddy announces more Hyderabad projects

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy also outlined several development plans for Hyderabad during the programme.

He referred to the Old City as the “Original City” and announced additional infrastructure and welfare initiatives.

The Chief Minister announced plans for a 3-km cable bridge at Miralam Cheruvu. He also said the Metro connection from Gowliguda to Chandrayangutta would be completed before the next Assembly elections.

The government also plans to expand Metro connectivity towards LB Nagar, Bandlaguda, Rajendranagar and Shamshabad.

Revanth Reddy further announced plans for one lakh Indiramma houses in Hyderabad and spoke about developing the Musi riverfront.

The government has also linked the proposed Musi development with plans to promote a night economy and create employment opportunities.

Flyover expected to ease traffic

The Nalgonda X Roads Steel Flyover is expected to provide smoother movement between several busy parts of south Hyderabad.

It will particularly benefit commuters travelling through Chanchalguda, Saidabad, Santosh Nagar and the Owaisi Hospital Junction area.

The project is being seen as an important addition to Hyderabad’s road infrastructure.
