In a major breakthrough, Hyderabad police apprehended a senior Maoist leader, *Narla Sri Vidya, who was on the radar of security agencies for over a decade. Acting on specific intelligence, the *Miyapur Police arrested her on July 24, 2025.
Sri Vidya was a State Committee Member of the outlawed *CPI (Maoist). She had a reward of *₹5 lakh announced for information leading to her arrest.
Who is Narla Sri Vidya?
Hailing from *Tirumalapuram village in Telangana, Sri Vidya became associated with the Maoist movement in **1992, reportedly influenced by her brother, who was also part of the left-wing extremism in the region. Over the years, she played a significant role in spreading the Maoist ideology among tribal youth, especially in **Visakhapatnam, **Koraput (Odisha), **Malkangiri, and parts of *Chhattisgarh.
She is believed to have been instrumental in recruitment drives and spreading organizational influence in remote forest regions across Andhra Pradesh and Odisha.
Previous Criminal Record
Sri Vidya’s name surfaced in connection with several conspiracy cases. One of the most notable is a criminal conspiracy case filed in 2019 at LB Nagar Police Station, Hyderabad. She has also held top positions within the Maoist party, earning a reputation as a key strategist and mobilizer.

A senior police officer involved in the operation stated, “Her arrest is a significant achievement in curbing Maoist activities in the state. We believe she holds crucial information about underground operations and sleeper cells.”
Following the arrest, Narla Sri Vidya is currently being interrogated by the counter-insurgency cell, and further investigations are underway to uncover links to other operatives.
