A national committee of dam safety experts has praised HYDRAA’s lake restoration and development initiatives in Hyderabad, calling the approach a model for the country.
Members of the National Dam Safety Experts Committee, led by Chairman Dr. Shailesh Kumar Srivastava, visited Fox Sagar Lake on Wednesday along with Irrigation Department officials. The team inspected the lake’s main bund and reviewed its present condition and safety aspects.
Fox Sagar Lake has an FTL area of 482.6 acres. HYDRAA’s restoration and conservation plan was presented by Younus, Director of Vimos Technocrats. The plan focuses on protecting the lake boundaries, safeguarding public assets, conserving the environment and supporting future development.
The experts appreciated HYDRAA’s efforts to preserve the natural features of lakes, including proper inlet and outlet systems for managing water flow, strengthening bunds and maintaining the lake’s water storage capacity.
As part of HYDRAA’s Phase-3 programme for the development of major lakes, Fox Sagar Lake is being taken up for restoration and conservation. Officials said priority is being given to protecting the lake’s storage capacity and surrounding areas.
The National Dam Safety Experts Committee appreciated HYDRAA’s initiatives for protecting public assets and restoring lakes and water bodies. The committee also commended the agency’s efforts to conserve Hyderabad’s lakes and ensure their safety for future generations.
