Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay has announced new cars for every MLA, along with additional monthly allowances to cover driver salaries and fuel expenses.
Under the announcement, each MLA will receive an additional ₹75,000 per month for driver salary and petrol or diesel expenses. In addition, ₹25,000 per month will be provided to each MLA to hire an assistant
The decision came after VCK party MLA Jyothimani reportedly raised concerns about the difficulties faced by legislators. CM Vijay responded immediately and announced the additional benefits.
The move has sparked criticism and trolling on social media, with netizens questioning whether elected representatives who already have substantial assets need free cars and additional allowances.
Many users also contrasted the swift decision on MLA-related concerns with the difficulties ordinary citizens often face when seeking government assistance, saying that common people have to navigate multiple conditions and offices before getting their issues addressed.
