Nizamabad | September 30, 2025 –
In a shocking development, Nizamabad Jail Superintendent Chintala Dasharath has been booked under the POCSO Act following serious allegations of sexual harassment. The case, registered after multiple complaints, has now drawn the attention of the District Magistrate, who has ordered a detailed inquiry.
According to sources, the allegations are not new. When Dasharath was serving as *Deputy Superintendent at Charlapally Jail, he reportedly faced similar charges. A prisoner’s sister alleged that he demanded *video calls in exchange for parole approval, leading to harassment complaints against him.
Fresh accusations suggest that Dasharath also sexually harassed wives of prisoners visiting for mulakats (meetings), raising serious concerns about abuse of power within the jail system.
With repeated allegations surfacing, the District Magistrate has taken the matter seriously and initiated a probe. Officials said that the safety and dignity of women connected to inmates must be protected and any misuse of authority will not be tolerated.
This case has sparked public outrage, with activists demanding strict action against corrupt jail officials and stronger monitoring systems inside prisons to prevent such incidents.
