PM Modi: Over 95 Crore Indians Now Covered Under Central Social Security Schemes, Says ILO

In his latest address to the nation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted a significant achievement in India’s welfare landscape. Speaking during the 123rd episode of ‘Mann Ki Baat’ on Akashvani, the Prime Minister revealed that over 95 crore citizens are now benefiting from various central social security schemes.

ILO Report Highlights India’s Expanding Social Safety Net

Referring to a recent report by the International Labour Organization (ILO), PM Modi stated that **64% of India’s population has received some form of welfare support. This marks a substantial increase from the *25 crore beneficiaries in 2015.

“India is progressing toward comprehensive coverage in every sector, especially in health and social security,” he remarked.

India Declared Trachoma-Free: PM Attributes Success to Swachh Bharat and Jal Jeevan Mission

During the broadcast, PM Modi also shared a moment of pride: India has officially been declared a trachoma-free nation. Trachoma, a bacterial eye disease and once a major public health concern, has now been eliminated due to coordinated national efforts.

He credited flagship programs like:

  • Swachh Bharat Abhiyan
  • Jal Jeevan Mission

These initiatives, he noted, played a key role in improving hygiene and sanitation, crucial in the fight against preventable diseases.

PM Appeals to Citizens to Reduce Oil Consumption

The Prime Minister also urged citizens to support sustainability efforts. He emphasized the need to cut oil consumption by at least 10% to reduce economic and environmental pressure.


PM Greets Pilgrims, Announces Resumption of Kailash Mansarovar Yatra

As many devotees embark on spiritual journeys, PM Modi extended warm wishes to all pilgrims. He announced that the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra will resume from Monday, following a long suspension.
