**Hyderabad, July 31, 2024** — Sridhar Reddy, a Deputy Commercial Tax Officer in the Telangana Commercial Taxes Department, was apprehended by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Rangareddy Unit today. Reddy was caught accepting a bribe of Rs 2,00,000 from Srikanth, a complainant seeking an official favor.The bribe was reportedly demanded by Reddy to expedite the audit of Srikanth’s firm for the fiscal year 2019-2020 and to close a notice issued against the firm. The ACB, acting on a complaint, conducted a sting operation that led to Reddy’s arrest.The case highlights ongoing concerns about corruption within the state’s tax administration. The ACB has promised a thorough investigation and emphasized its commitment to addressing such misconduct.
