Telangana DGP Shivadhar Reddy Takes Charge

B. Shivadhar Reddy has officially assumed office as the new Director General of Police (DGP) of Telangana. Speaking at a press conference, he outlined his priorities and key challenges ahead.

The DGP revealed that the police department currently has nearly 17,000 vacancies. He assured that steps will be taken to fill these positions as soon as possible, and the government will be fully supported in this effort.

Shivadhar Reddy emphasized that maintaining law and order is the department’s top priority. The upcoming local body elections will be the first major challenge during his tenure, and ensuring they are conducted peacefully and smoothly will be a primary focus.

He highlighted that basic policing will be strengthened with modern technology. Improvements in visual monitoring systems and cyber security will ensure more efficient operations across the state.

Regarding Maoists, the DGP assured that efforts are underway to help those willing to surrender reintegrate into society. He requested that ex-Maoists come forward without fear, assuring them of safety and support. Recently, several party members, including central committee member Sujata, have surrendered.

The DGP also warned that individuals posting content intended to harass or defame others on social media would face strict action.

Shivadhar Reddy made a notable remark stating, “Everything we have is in the Khaki Book; we are unaware of the Pink Book,” underlining his focus on official policing protocols.
