Hyderabad, August 12, 2026: Telangana Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (TGSPDCL) has successfully completed the electrification of all 8,977 eligible Anganwadi Centres across its jurisdiction, marking a significant step towards strengthening infrastructure for women and child welfare.
Under the DA-JGUA Scheme, 9,234 unelectrified Anganwadi Centres were identified. Of these, 257 were found to be not required, merged, non-existent or not traceable. Electricity connections were subsequently provided to all 8,977 eligible centres, achieving 100% electrification.
The programme was implemented in two phases. Phase-I covered 7,073 centres and was completed in July 2026, while Phase-II covered 1,904 centres and was completed on August 10, 2026.
The initiative was carried out under the leadership of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, with the special initiative of Deputy Chief Minister and Energy Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, and the guidance of Women and Child Welfare Minister Danasari Anasuya (Seethakka).
TGSPDCL CMD Jitesh V. Patil, IAS, said electrification would improve learning environments, service delivery, health and nutrition facilities, and working conditions at Anganwadi Centres. He appreciated the efforts of engineers, field staff and employees who completed the works within the stipulated timeline.
The initiative is expected to benefit children, pregnant women, lactating mothers and Anganwadi staff while further strengthening Telangana’s welfare and development programmes.
