Hyderabad: The Telangana Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (TGSPDCL) has launched its statewide “Basti Baata” outreach programme across all 21 operational circles to bring electricity services directly to consumers and strengthen the power distribution network.
Under the initiative, Chief Engineers, Superintending Engineers, Divisional Engineers, Assistant Divisional Engineers, Assistant Engineers, linemen, assistant linemen, and other field staff visited colonies, villages, tribal habitations, and urban localities to interact with consumers, understand their electricity-related grievances, and resolve issues on the spot wherever possible. Complaints requiring further action were immediately forwarded to the concerned officials for prompt resolution.
As part of the programme, TGSPDCL teams also carried out extensive maintenance works, including inspection of distribution transformers, cleaning of substations and transformer premises, trimming tree branches near power lines, clearing line corridors, tightening loose electrical wires, identifying damaged conductors, installing inter poles, and replacing rusted or damaged electric poles to ensure uninterrupted and safe power supply.
TGSPDCL CMD Jitesh V. Patil, IAS, said the objective of the “Basti Baata” programme is to strengthen the distribution system while providing faster, more accessible, and consumer-friendly electricity services. Consumers appreciated the initiative, stating that direct interaction with officials and quick grievance redressal made the programme highly beneficial.
