Mahabubabad, Telangana | August 20, 2025:
Police in Mahabubabad have arrested two men for allegedly kidnapping a minor girl and taking her across multiple districts before abandoning her in Warangal.
Town Inspector Gatla Mahender Reddy confirmed that the accused, identified as Doli Vinay Kumar alias Vineel (son of Shekhar, resident of Hanumanthunigadda) and his friend *Sheikh Abid Pasha (son of Malsur, native of Nerada village, Kuravi mandal), were taken into custody under the *POCSO Act.
Case Details
On *August 14, 2025, the girl’s mother approached Mahabubabad Town Police Station and lodged a complaint that her younger daughter had been missing since *August 12. She expressed suspicion on Vinay Kumar, a resident of Hanumanthunigadda.
Police registered a case and began tracing the girl. During investigation, the victim revealed that Vinay Kumar had befriended her and lured her with false promises. On the night of August 12, he reportedly picked her up on his bike with the help of his friend, Sheikh Abid Pasha. The two then took her to Hyderabad, Mulugu, and Warangal.
When police intensified searches in Warangal, the accused abandoned the girl and fled. She was safely rescued and brought back to her family.
Arrest and Legal Action
On *August 19, 2025, Sub-Inspector *T. Ashok arrested both Vinay Kumar and Abid Pasha. They were produced before court under charges of kidnapping and sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
Inspector Mahender Reddy stated:
“We have acted swiftly to trace the girl and bring her home safely. The accused have been arrested and presented before court. Strict legal action will follow.”
