The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a cyclone alert after a deep depression in the west-central Bay of Bengal intensified into a cyclone. The system, which is currently moving in a north-northwest direction, is expected to strengthen further over the next 24 hours.
According to the forecast, the cyclone is likely to make *landfall between South Odisha and North Andhra Pradesh, close to **Gopalpur and Paradip ports, during the early hours of *Friday. Authorities have already initiated precautionary measures in vulnerable coastal regions.
Meanwhile, in the Arabian Sea, another low-pressure area persists and is showing signs of intensifying into a cyclone as it tracks westward. Meteorologists are monitoring its progress closely, though it is less likely to affect the Indian west coast directly at this stage.

The IMD and the Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority have predicted widespread rainfall starting Thursday due to the cyclone’s impact. Districts in coastal Andhra Pradesh and southern Odisha are likely to receive heavy to very heavy downpours.
