Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has come under criticism over the government’s plans concerning the Young India Skill University and the future of polytechnic students.
Former IPS officer and BRS leader R.S. Praveen Kumar alleged that the government is spending around ₹4,000 crore on roads in the Fourth City to increase land values. He also questioned the decision to establish the Young India Skill University there, alleging that engineering education was being described as “criminal waste.”
Meanwhile, polytechnic students have expressed strong concerns about their future. Many students said they come from middle-class families and pursue diploma courses hoping to build a better career
Students alleged that bringing them under the proposed “Shakti” scheme could affect their career prospects. They said they have been protesting for the past two to three days but have received no response from the government.
“We are worried about our future. If we are pushed into labour-oriented work after pursuing diplomas, what will happen to our careers?” students questioned.
The students also alleged that police used force against protesters, including minors, during demonstrations. They appealed to the government to address their concerns and clarify the future of diploma and polytechnic education
