A City Magistrate Court in Uttar Pradesh’s Saharanpur has ordered the removal of a mosque located inside the Collectorate premises within one month, ruling that the structure is illegal and stands on government land. The court has directed the authorities to clear the site in compliance with its order.
Congress MP Imran Masood has strongly contested the ruling, claiming that the mosque is situated on land recorded under Gata No. 539, which was donated by Walid Khan and Yaqoob Khan for the construction of the Collectorate, Treasury, and Tehsil buildings. He said documents, including a 1911 electricity bill, were submitted before the court as evidence.
Masood further argued that a temple also exists on the same land and questioned why religious structures were being targeted, stating that if the mosque is demolished, the temple would also have to face similar action.
