Suryapet District Collector Tejas Nand Lal Pawar inspected the fields of farmer Pasham Venkata Reddy and appreciated his innovative crop diversification model aimed at ensuring continuous income and reducing cultivation risks.
Venkata Reddy is cultivating six crops on two acres—ridge gourd, chilli, okra, brinjal, bottle gourd and marigold. The farmer explained that chilli cultivated on 30 guntas is expected to yield around 10 tonnes, while ridge gourd may yield about 4 tonnes and marigold around 1.5–2 tonnes.
The Collector also inspected a five-acre organically cultivated dragon fruit farm belonging to Parupalli Srinivasa Rao of Srinivasapuram village. He advised the farmer to adopt suitable intercropping methods and plant different varieties of trees along field bunds to generate additional income.
Collector Pawar encouraged farmers to adopt crop diversification, organic farming and integrated cultivation practices to improve farm incomes and minimise agricultural risks.
