Telangana RTC Achieves Major Milestone: Over 200 Crore Free Rides for Women, Celebrations Planned Statewide

The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) has achieved a historic feat—over 200 crore free rides have been availed by women under the government’s flagship scheme promoting gender-friendly public transportation.

Since the introduction of the free bus travel facility for women, the estimated value of the benefit has reached ₹6,700 crore. This massive welfare measure has significantly empowered women commuters across the state, ensuring safe and reliable transportation without any financial burden.

A Testament to Progressive Governance

The initiative, which was rolled out as a part of Telangana’s commitment to women empowerment and social equity, has seen *consistent support from the state government. The government has been *regularly releasing funds to the TSRTC, ensuring seamless implementation of the scheme without any disruption in services.

Transport Minister *Ponnam Prabhakar, while expressing his gratitude to the public and TSRTC staff, announced that *statewide celebrations will be held on July 23, to commemorate this momentous occasion.
