Hyderabad, August 5: In a swift and courageous rescue operation, the Chilkalguda Police saved the life of a 25-year-old man who allegedly attempted to end his life by running along the railway tracks between Secunderabad and Seethaphalmandi railway stations.
Acting on two Dial 112 emergency calls, the BC-1 patrol team rushed to the location and found N. Govind (25) near the Alugaddabavi railway signal. On seeing the police, he began running along the railway track toward Seethaphalmandi station.
In a remarkable display of dedication, Police Constable P. Shanker chased Govind on foot for nearly 3 to 4 kilometres, caught up with him, and safely prevented the suicide attempt.
Police later counselled the distressed youth, who was reportedly facing unemployment, financial hardship, and family-related problems, before safely reuniting him with his parents.
Govind’s parents expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Chilkalguda Police for their timely intervention, compassion, and professionalism, crediting the officers with saving their son’s life.
The Chilkalguda Police urged the public to seek support from family members, friends, or the police during times of emotional or financial distress, emphasizing that timely help can save lives.
