Cyberabad Police Bust Fake Doctors Network, Arrest 10 in Telangana
Hyderabad: Cyberabad Police have arrested 10 people for allegedly practising medicine without the required medical qualifications and running unauthorised clinics across parts of Telangana.
The arrests followed simultaneous raids by the Cyberabad Special Operations Team (SOT), local law-and-order police and medical officials. The operation targeted clinics operating in areas under the Cyberabad Commissionerate.
According to police, the accused allegedly posed as doctors despite not holding recognised medical qualifications. Some of them had reportedly studied only up to Class 10, Intermediate or B.Com.
10 Unauthorised Clinics Raided
Police said the raids were conducted at multiple locations in the Medchal-Malkajgiri and Sangareddy districts.
The areas included Pet Basheerabad, Medchal, Jagadgirigutta, Suraram, Patancheru and RC Puram, among others.
Officials reportedly found 10 unauthorised clinics being operated by the accused. Some of the establishments had beds where patients were allegedly admitted for treatment.
Police said the accused were also treating children at some of these clinics.
Fake Doctors Allegedly Administered IV Fluids
The investigation has raised concerns over the type of treatment allegedly provided at the clinics.
According to police, the accused were administering saline and intravenous (IV) fluids despite allegedly lacking the required medical training and qualifications.
Authorities also seized medical equipment and medicines during the raids. The seized items reportedly included BP machines, thermometers, stethoscopes, weighing machines, syringes and saline bottles.
Officials also found medicines that had reportedly passed their expiry dates.
Police Warn Patients About Unqualified Practitioners
Police have warned the public against seeking treatment from people who cannot establish their recognised medical qualifications.
Patients are advised to verify a doctor’s credentials before receiving medical treatment, particularly when injections or IV treatment are involved.
Authorities also urged residents to report suspected unauthorised medical practices to the police or concerned health officials.
The arrests are part of wider enforcement efforts against unqualified people allegedly practising medicine in Hyderabad and surrounding areas. Similar operations in Hyderabad in recent weeks have also resulted in arrests over alleged unauthorised medical practice.
Why the Cyberabad Fake Doctors Case Matters
The latest operation has once again highlighted concerns about unqualified individuals providing medical treatment.
Medical treatment requires appropriate professional training and legal authorisation. Allowing unqualified practitioners to diagnose illnesses or administer treatment can put patients at risk.
The Cyberabad Police investigation is expected to establish the full extent of the alleged activities and determine what further legal action may follow.
