**Hyderabad**, *September 26, 2024*: In a major crackdown on illegal constructions, Telangana Revenue Department officials demolished a multi-storey building that had been constructed unlawfully within the boundaries of a lake in Malkapur, located in Kondapur mandal of Sangareddy district. The demolition was carried out using explosives to bring down the unauthorised structure.The building, which had stood for almost a decade, was built by a Secunderabad resident who had constructed steps leading from the lake’s bank to the building. Despite its illegal status, the building owner reportedly visited the site with his family during weekends.The demolition, conducted by enforcement teams, resulted in two individuals sustaining minor injuries during the operation. Fortunately, their injuries were not severe.Officials noted that the unauthorised construction had been a matter of concern for years, as it was built in direct violation of environmental and building regulations. The decision to demolish the structure was made after repeated warnings were ignored by the building’s owner.This action is part of a larger effort by the Telangana government to clear illegal structures that have been encroaching on water bodies, threatening the local environment and public safety. The Revenue Department has reiterated its commitment to taking strict action against illegal constructions in the state.
