**Hyderabad**, *September 26, 2024*: In a large-scale operation, 16 teams comprising officials from various departments conducted a survey around the Musi River and its catchment areas on Thursday. The survey was carried out under tight police security, covering parts of Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy, and Medchal-Malkajgiri districts. The primary objective of the survey was to identify houses and constructions in the buffer zones of the Musi River and its catchment areas. Revenue department officials marked several houses that were constructed illegally within these zones, gathering critical data for further action. In Hyderabad, the survey focused on key areas, including Chaderghat, Musanagar, and Shankar Nagar, under the supervision of Himayat Sagar Tahsildar Sandhya Rani. The teams inspected properties and marked the ones falling within the river’s buffer zone for future legal proceedings.Simultaneously, surveys were conducted in Ibrahimbagh and the Langer House Defence Colony, where similar inspections took place to assess the extent of encroachments. The Musi River, historically significant for Hyderabad, has been under threat from rampant illegal constructions, prompting the government to take stringent measures to reclaim the river and its surrounding areas. This comprehensive survey marks a critical step towards addressing the encroachments and preserving the river’s catchment areas, with officials expected to submit a detailed report soon for further action.
