Jagan’s Declaration Controversy Intensifies: NDA Leaders Demand Clarification Amid Tirupati Laddu Debate

*September 26, 2024 – Tirupati*The controversy surrounding Ex Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s declaration of faith during his visit to the Tirumala temple has once again ignited political tensions. NDA leaders, particularly from the BJP, have intensified their demands, urging Jagan to provide a declaration before seeking darshan of Lord Venkateswara, as per the temple’s tradition for non-Hindu visitors.BJP leader Daggubati Purandeshwari reignited the debate, stating that Jagan, being a non-Hindu, should follow the protocol by signing the declaration of faith, which is mandatory for non-Hindus before entering the sacred temple. Purandeshwari, along with other NDA leaders, insisted that the Chief Minister comply with the established practice, further fueling the ongoing controversy. The issue has triggered a renewed war of words between the ruling YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) and opposition leaders, adding to the political strife surrounding the Tirupati Laddu incident. TDP chief and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu also weighed in on the controversy. Responding to the ongoing debate, Naidu questioned whether Jagan had signed the declaration prior to his visit to the Tirumala temple, as required for non-Hindus. Taking to his social media account, Naidu emphasized that while Jagan is free to visit the temple, the real issue lies in whether he has faith in Lord Venkateswara and if he respects the temple’s customs.*”If there is faith, then non-Hindus should make a declaration, according to the prescribed tradition. Are you not required to give ah declaration? Why go to Tirumala if you don’t respect that tradition?”* Naidu asked in his post.Naidu also criticized Jagan for allegedly disregarding Hindu traditions in other incidents, citing the desecration of religious idols and the burning of a temple chariot under his leadership. He claimed that such incidents reflect a careless attitude toward the sentiments of devotees.
