The Telangana Government has intensified preparations for the upcoming Khelo India Youth Games (KIYG), with the Sports Authority of Telangana launching a series of strategic meetings with various State Sports Associations to strengthen the state’s medal prospects.
The first meeting was chaired by Dr. A. Soni Bala Devi, Vice Chairperson and Managing Director of the Sports Authority of Telangana. Representatives from Athletics, Cycling, Archery, Gymnastics, Badminton, Mallakhamb, Gatka, Kalaripayattu and other sports associations participated in the discussions.
The meeting focused on identifying talented athletes with strong medal potential and providing them with scientific, structured training. A three-stage selection process was finalized, consisting of Selection Trials, First-Level Training Camp, and Core Training Camp. Officials also reviewed training schedules, infrastructure requirements, sports equipment, and the appointment of qualified coaches
Dr. Soni Bala Devi stated that the Sports Authority is committed to preparing Telangana athletes to deliver outstanding performances on home soil during the Khelo India Youth Games. She added that sport-specific action plans are being developed to provide specialized coaching, training camps, and all necessary support for disciplines with the highest medal potential. Similar consultations with the remaining State Sports Associations will be conducted in phases to accelerate preparations.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Directors Ravinder, Srinivas, Ashok, PRO Suresh Kaleru, Telangana Olympic Association Secretary Mallareddy, representative Praveen, and office bearers from various State Sports Associations.
