BRS Leaders Stand in Solidarity as Residents Protest Demolitions Linked to Musi Riverfront Beautification Project

**Hyderabad, [Date]** — Residents living along the Musi River staged a significant protest in Bahadurpura and at Telangana Bhavan, voicing their concerns over the ongoing demolition drive associated with the Musi Riverfront beautification project. Families from various affected areas began gathering as early as 7 a.m., seeking support from Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leaders to protect their homes. The protest peaked around 11:30 a.m. when a large crowd assembled at the Bahadurpura flyover, staging a sit-in and raising slogans against the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) and the ruling Congress party. Protesters expressed their outrage over the demolitions, emphasizing their demand for compensation for land registration fees, electricity, and other bills paid on what they refer to as “encroached lands.”“How can the government mark places for demolition without any notice to the residents? If you want to demolish such encroached areas, what are we paying taxes, registration, and electricity bills for? The funds allocated for this project could be better utilized to clean up the river instead of demolishing the homes of so many families,” said one of the protesters, highlighting the sentiment of frustration and betrayal among the community. In response to the escalating situation, a delegation of BRS MLAs and MLCs, led by Harish Rao, visited Hydershakote to inspect the Musi River catchment area. The delegation interacted with residents, extending their solidarity with the protesters and acknowledging the significant concerns raised by the community.“The voices of the residents must be heard. We will advocate for their rights and ensure that their grievances are brought to the attention of the government,” Harish Rao stated, affirming the BRS’s commitment to supporting those affected by the demolition drives. As tensions continue to rise, the residents remain determined to fight for their homes and livelihoods, urging the government to reconsider its approach to the riverfront beautification project and prioritize community welfare over demolition.
