Hyderabad Metro Rail Phase-II: Stakeholder Departments Urged to Expedite NOCs

Hyderabad Metro Rail Phase-II is moving ahead with efforts to secure the necessary government clearances, with stakeholder departments urged to expedite the issuance of No Objection Certificates (NOCs).

A coordination meeting was held at the Telangana Secretariat on Monday under the chairmanship of Jayesh Ranjan, Special Chief Secretary, MA&UD. The meeting focused on obtaining clearances from the Network Planning Group under the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) for the proposed seven Phase-II corridors.

Sarfaraz Ahmad, HMRL Managing Director and Metropolitan Commissioner, HMDA, highlighted the urgent need to expand Hyderabad’s metro network and requested the concerned departments to issue NOCs at the earliest.

Officials discussed the proposed seven corridors covering 122.9 km and examined the impact of existing and upcoming projects in the corridors’ influence areas. Key issues included sharing of Right of Way with NHAI, MoRTH, Defence authorities, GHMC, CMC, MMC and R&B, railway crossings, water-body crossings including the Musi River at Nagole, gas pipelines and construction within the airport boundary.

Senior officials from South Central Railway, Defence, MoRTH, NHAI, Civil Aviation, GHAIL, DoT, TGSPDCL, TGIIC, HMDA, HUMTA, Irrigation, R&B, GAIL, IOCL, HPCL and Reliance attended the meeting.

HMRL officials emphasized that timely NOCs from the concerned departments are crucial for securing further Government of India permissions and ensuring that the Phase-II project progresses without delays.
