Hyderabad, July 26, 2024- The ambitious second phase of the metro rail project in Hyderabad has undergone significant revisions, with the planned distance now extended to 78.4 km across 5 corridors, up from the initially proposed 70 km. This expansion comes alongside a notable increase in estimated costs, now projected at Rs 24,042 crore.Originally intended to span 8.4 km from Rayadurgam to Wipro Koodali and the US Consulate in the Financial District, the route has been extended further to include Neopolis in Kokapet, adding over 3.3 km to the total length. This decision, taken by the government, reflects heightened expectations for enhanced connectivity and transportation infrastructure in the region. The revised plans aim to cater to the burgeoning transportation needs of Hyderabad’s growing population and expanding urban areas. The additional distance and costs, while indicative of the project’s scale and scope, underline the city’s commitment to bolstering its public transport network.
