**Hyderabad:** Today marks the fourth anniversary since the closure of the old building of Osmania General Hospital, a historic institution renowned for providing healthcare to the underprivileged. The closure, ordered after heavy rains inundated the old structure in 2020, has led to significant challenges for the hospital administration and patients alike.Following the closure, efforts were made by then Superintendent Dr. Pandu Naik to relocate patients and salvage medical services. Current Superintendent Dr. Nagender Kulikuthubsha subsequently set up temporary facilities to accommodate the influx of patients from the old building. However, recent developments have exacerbated the hospital’s predicament. In a sweeping move, around 22 senior medical faculty members and approximately 60 doctors, including professors, associate professors, and assistant professors, have been transferred from Osmania General Hospital. This exodus has sparked concerns among patients and hospital staff about the institution’s ability to maintain its standard of care. The transfers, which come amidst ongoing efforts to modernize the hospital’s infrastructure and expand its services, have left critical departments understaffed. Patients, particularly those requiring intensive care and specialized treatment, fear a decline in the quality of medical attention they receive.”The closure of the old building forced us to adapt quickly to new conditions,” remarked a hospital staff member, reflecting on the challenges faced over the past four years. “Now, with the sudden loss of experienced medical personnel, we are struggling to ensure continuity of care for our patients.
