Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has directed officials to ensure that Indiramma Housing projects under the Core Urban Region Economy (CURE) are constructed within existing residential areas, instead of isolated locations, to provide better access to employment and essential services.
During a high-level review meeting with Ministers Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy and Ponnam Prabhakar, along with senior officials, the Chief Minister instructed departments to identify unused government land within the Outer Ring Road (ORR). He also suggested reallocating alternate land to departments such as Police, Revenue, and Transport if their vacant land is utilized for the housing project.
The government plans to construct 7,680 flats in the first phase across 17 Assembly constituencies, including Rajendranagar, Maheshwaram, Serilingampally, Ibrahimpatnam, Malkajgiri, Nampally, Khairatabad, Jubilee Hills, Karwan, Bahadurpura, Amberpet, Kukatpally, Medchal, Quthbullapur, Sanathnagar, Secunderabad Cantonment, and Malakpet.
Each flat will have a built-up area of 528 sq. ft. with a 400 sq. ft. carpet area. The estimated construction cost is ₹11 lakh per unit, with the government providing a ₹5 lakh subsidy, while beneficiaries will contribute the remaining ₹6 lakh. The state government will bear the entire land cost
The Chief Minister emphasized that housing should be located close to workplaces to ensure beneficiaries do not lose livelihood opportunities and that the homes remain fully utilized.
